Championing vision awareness in autism services

Results from a collaborative project on autism and sight loss undertaken by RNIB Scotland, Scottish Autism and Edinburgh Napier University have been published in the Review Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders and the Journal of Applied Research in Intellectual Disabilities. The work was funded by the Scottish Government as part of the Scottish Strategy for Autism.

The Review Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders piece is a systematic review of the research evidence and is open access. The second piece, in the Journal of Applied Research Intellectual Disabilities, looks at the vision awareness education we implemented within our autism services and the outcomes of this. This journal is subscription access but you can contact our research team if you would like a copy to read. Please email research@scottishautism.org

You can also read a full article about this research and our vision awareness programme on the Vision 2020 website.
