National Diagnosis & Assessment Service

As of 6th April 2022 Scottish Autism no longer support administration of the National Diagnostic & Assessment Service (NDAS).

We have made the difficult and significant decision to no longer support the administration of the National Diagnostic & Assessment Service (NDAS). This is to enable us to focus our resources on key services that can have as much impact as possible now, and in the future for autistic people and their families.  These key areas of work include:

  • Service delivery – we are a leading provider of autism –specific services across Scotland, supporting over 400 autistic people
  • Post diagnostic support - our autism advice line is contacted by thousands of autistic people and their families each year to find the help and advice they need
  • Campaigning for policy change – we will continue to campaign to establish meaningful change for autistic people and their families by influencing national autism strategies and other government policies in Scotland.

This change has taken effect from 6th of April 2022.  Professor Tommy MacKay, who led the service, will continue to operate the service and accept referrals but will now do so completely independent to Scottish Autism.

All individuals on the waiting list are now being informed of this and all appointments will be honoured where individuals wish to proceed.

Previously the assessments were carried out at Scottish Autism in Alloa, Clackmannanshire but these will now be carried out at ‘NDAS – Autism Diagnosis’ at 117 Brook Street, Glasgow, G40 3AP.

Alex Baretto will be joining Professor MacKay at NDAS – Autism Diagnosis, and will continue in her role as administrator.
