West of Scotland Area Services

Help us provide autistic adults with therapy sessions to gain useful skills and feel valued

We have two day and vocational services in West Scotland, each offering a unique experience for autistic adults to learn and develop new skills, while participating in their local community.  Both Hamilton Towers, based in Hamilton and the Abbie Resource Centre in Bridgeton, Glasgow, provide a mix of flexible day and outreach support. The vocational services encourage individuals to identify their own interests, skills, choices and desires which then shape a person-centred programme of daily activities.

Therapy Sessions for individuals supported at the Abbie Resource Centre

We currently offer art, drama & music therapy sessions to the individuals we support across our West Scotland services. The team have asked for assistance to cover the cost of these hugely beneficial sessions so that they can continue.

Currently, 33 individuals attend these highly beneficial sessions which provide a safe and therapeutic environment for people to be able to express themselves and manage their feelings. Families, support staff and the individuals themselves, are seeing and experiencing the benefits of the sessions; individuals who have had difficulty concentrating on activities for more than 10 minutes are enjoying creating artworks for more than an hour at a time. Due to this, they are keen for the sessions to become a permanent feature for the supported individuals.

We hope to raise £13,819 to cover the annual cost of the weekly drama and music classes, along with the fortnightly art sessions.
