Conall McGhee, a young autistic man who we support, is taking on the Supernova 5K at The Kelpies on 13th March. Conall previously completed the challenge in 2024, as well as the Edinburgh Kiltwalk in support of the organisation who supports him every day.
Conall, who is non-speaking and communicates via Makaton sign language, is very motivated by fundraising and returning to the Supernova run means a great deal to him.
He trains hard, sticks to his routine, and is motivated by knowing he is helping Scottish Autism continue their work supporting autistic people and their families across Scotland.
On the day of the run, Conall will be supported by Kerry Reilly, an autism practitioner, who works closely with him and helps ensure he can take part safely and confidently.
Commenting on Conall‘s aims Kerry said, Conall is taking part in the 5K run to give something back to Scottish Autism, the organisation that supports him every day.”
“Training for the run has given him a clear goal to work towards, and completing it brings him a strong sense of pride and enjoyment. He’s proud to represent Scottish Autism and show what he can achieve with the right support.”
Scottish Autism’s Head of Income Generation and Partnerships, Jane Kennedy, commented, “We are delighted that Conall is using this opportunity to raise funds for our vital services while also fulfilling an important personal goal.
“All of the money raised by our amazing supporters and our supported people, like Conall, who take on a variety of personal challenges across the year, helps to deliver vital frontline support for autistic people and their families.
“We look forward to hearing about how Conall gets on at the 5K and we wish him the very best of luck for his fundraising.”
