Our Training Courses

A small range of core training options is delivered at your venue by Autism Advisors who have many years of experience working across the whole of the autism spectrum, child to adult.

Our evaluations show that 100% of delegates attending our training would recommend it to others.

Introduction to Autism

Level 1 (Introductory): 1 day course

This course is designed for practitioners new to the field of autism. Participants will be introduced to basic concepts and theories relating to autism. The notion of autism as a spectrum condition will be explored along with behavioural, psychological and sensory aspects of the condition. The training will be presented by an experienced practitioner who will present ‘real life’ experiences alongside theoretical principles.

The day will be interactive with opportunities for comments, questions and discussion.

Outcomes

  • Knowledge of autism across a broad context (e.g. history; diagnosis)
  • Knowledge of autism as a developmental condition
  • Knowledge of autism at the behavioural, psychological and sensory levels

Courses typically run from 10 am – 4 pm including breaks.

Cost

£700 (for up to 25 delegates) plus travel from Alloa at 45p per mile

Overnight accommodation may also be required depending on location.

For more information or to book this course, please contact us on 01259 720044 or email autism@scottishautism.org

A condensed, half day version of this course is also available, priced at £450 plus mileage. Please contact us for further details

Autism Profiling

Autism Theory into Autism Practice

Level 1-2: 2 day course

This two day course integrates our ‘Introduction to Autism’ training day with guided support for teams of delegates to profile an individual with autism they support.

It begins with an overview of what autism is before focusing on learning about autism at the behavioural, psychological and sensory levels. This continues into day two where additional input on understanding behaviour and strategies for support can also be discussed.

Please note that the level of individual support in profiling that can be offered to delegates is directly proportionate to the number of individuals being profiled; for optimum support no more than four different individuals would be profiled with a total of 16 or fewer delegates contributing to this (more could attend however this would entail a second trainer at additional cost).

Outcomes

  • Knowledge of autism across a broad context (e.g. history; diagnosis)
  • Knowledge of autism as a developmental condition
  • Knowledge of autism at the behavioural, psychological and sensory levels
  • Knowledge of ways to profile an individual’s autism
  • A working autism profile of individual/s supported
  • Knowledge of a range of ways to understand and support individuals on the spectrum

Courses typically run from 10 am – 4 pm including breaks.

Cost

£700 (for up to 16 delegates) plus travel from Alloa at 45p per mile

Overnight accommodation may also be required depending on location.
