Click and Connect
Welcoming online spaces to connect with others
Click and Connect is a free, online service offering facilitated group spaces for autistic people, and for parents and carers of autistic people, across Scotland. These groups offer calm, supportive spaces where people can connect with others.
All Click and Connect groups take place online, via Zoom and are completely free to attend.
Who is it for?
Click and Connect is open to anyone living in Scotland, and the service offers distinct separate group spaces. These include group spaces for;
- Autistic adults, wherever they are on their autism journey
- Autistic Young People, wherever they are on their autism journey
- Parents and carers of autistic people
When we refer to wherever a person is on their autism journey, this means anyone who either self-identifies, is awaiting an autism assessment or has a formal autism diagnosis.
Each of our group spaces are designed with the people attending in mind, creating an environment that feels understanding and supportive.
What are the groups like?
Click and Connect groups are built around comfort, choice and safety.
We aim to offer relaxed online spaces where people can take part at their own pace and in their own way. Some groups are interest‑focused, such as our creative spaces, while others are wellbeing‑focused, including mindfulness and wellbeing sessions. No prior skills or experience are needed for any of our groups just come as you are.
Sessions are designed to feel calm and predictable, with no sudden demands or high‑pressure interaction. There is no pressure to talk, share, or turn on cameras.
Discussion can be part of the groups, but how you take part is completely up to you. You may choose to simply be in the space and listen, communicate verbally, or use the chat function in Zoom whatever suits your own communication preferences.
All Click and Connect groups are guided by kindness, respect, and shared understanding, creating a supportive environment where everyone is valued and welcome. People are free to join in as much, or as little, as feels right for them.
What do our group facilitators commit to?
Our group facilitators are guided by four key aims;
- Providing Safe Spaces
We aim to create safe, accessible, and inclusive online environments where autistic people, parents, or carers, can spend time together in ways that feel comfortable and supportive.
- Supporting Social Communication
We aim to provide an online environment where autistic people, parents, or carers feel heard and listened to, without expectation or judgement. People can communicate in ways that suit them, whether that’s speaking, using the chat, or simply being present.
- Building Connections
We aim to bring autistic people, parents, or carers together online around shared experiences, interests and goals. Reducing feelings of isolation and supporting a sense of belonging, acceptance, and mutual understanding.
- Enhancing Wellbeing
By providing ongoing, online supportive spaces, we aim to support emotional wellbeing, by reducing stress, building confidence and self-esteem, encouraging self-care and compassion, and supporting people to connect more kindly with their own feelings.

What to expect when signing up to a group
All Click and Connect groups are hosted online via Zoom. To attend, you can register using the registration link for each session, which can be found on the group’s date in our events calendar. You are welcome to register for all upcoming dates, or just the sessions that suit you. Registrations are approved by our team a few times per week (but not every day), so you may not receive confirmation straight away. Once approved, your confirmation and Zoom joining link will be sent directly to your email address from Zoom, so please check your junk or spam folder if you haven’t received it. If you experience any difficulties with signing up, please contact our team at advice@scottishautism.org.
“In general these groups help me to feel part of something. I am otherwise not social at all, being too anxious to be able to enjoy social events. These are really an essential part of my wellbeing routines.”

“It gives me a nice break point in a busy working week to catch my breath and to acknowledge that autism comes with challenges, and I should not try to just ignore them.”
