Aims and Objectives
The group aims to:
- Provide a supportive, non-judgemental environment for parents and carers to share experiences.
- Reduce feelings of isolation and stress.
- Foster a sense of community and belonging.
- Offer light wellbeing activities and opportunities for reflection.
Who is the Group For?
This support group is intended for:
- Parents and carers of autistic people (children, young people and adults).
- Parents and carers supporting someone currently waiting for an autism assessment.
Key Principles
- Focus on shared lived experience rather than formal therapy.
- Confidentiality through clear group agreements to promote privacy and trust.
- Inclusivity, with respect for diverse parenting styles, backgrounds and experiences.

Meet the Host
Susan, Community Advisor
Susan started with Scottish Autism in May 2026. Prior to this she worked in the third and public sector supporting individuals.
Susan is a mum to an autistic child, she has understanding of the challenges families can face and has experience in the autism diagnosis process. Susan is committed to developing herself and continually learning to ensure she provides the best possible service to every individual she has contact with.
