About the Group

The Art Group provides the opportunity to bring people together for creative expression in an informal and safe environment. It offers the chance for a mindful break from the day’s worries and can help to reduce stress.

Each hour and a half session will explore an artistic medium and an abstract theme which can act as guidance to start off the creative process.

Attendees will be encouraged to view the chosen theme through their own personal lens, brainstorming ideas and searching for ways to best depict their vision. Kirsten will share knowledge and tips on how to work with the different mediums and materials. The materials to use are for guidance only and the attendees can always work in their preferred medium and explore it in their own way.

Join our online Art Group taking place every Wednesday from 19th April to 21st June (excluding 7th June) from 5pm - 6.30pm.

Target Audience: Autistic people and their families in Scotland, all ages and abilities welcome!

This group is open to all ages, however if your child is under the age of 18, they must be registered using a parent/guardian's email address. Children under the age of 16 should have an adult present during the session.

Group Host

Kirsten Duncan is a Community Advisor at Scottish Autism who lives in the Scottish Highlands. She is a keen artist who takes inspiration from the landscape around her including mountains, the sea and wildlife. As well as painting on canvas and paper, Kirsten paints on wood, slate and stones collected from the remote island where she lives, off the west coast.

Kirsten is currently studying painting at the University of Highlands and Islands and is enjoying experimenting with different media, colour and painting techniques. In the summer, she sells her own art and crafts as well as pieces that have been created by other islanders in her converted touring caravan known as the ‘Craftavan’.
