Daniel from Fife has a real passion for training and recently took another exciting step on his learning journey by attending an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course at Blue Central.
Reflecting on the experience, Daniel described the day as really interesting and said he particularly enjoyed the practical elements of the training, including practising recovery compressions and working with the CPR dummy.
Daniel was grateful for the support he received throughout the day, saying he was thankful to fellow learners, Karen and Lindsay, for helping him. He was also keen to recognise Autism Practitioner Kerry’s support, sharing:
“Kerry was great supporting me during the course and made me feel comfortable and included the entire time.”
One of Daniel’s proudest moments was successfully completing the course and receiving his certificate.
“I’m proud I got my certificate and achieved completing the course.”
Kerry was delighted to see Daniel’s confidence and determination throughout the training:
“Daniel was amazing during his emergency first aid training. He socialised with everyone there, made a good few jokes during breaks and focused well throughout the training. With support, Daniel managed to answer questions and gained the most points out of the group by the end of the day, winning a little prize!”
When practising the recovery position, Daniel initially chose to observe. However, when Nicola asked for a volunteer to demonstrate a front-facing recovery position, Daniel stepped forward.
Kerry noted:
“The whole group congratulated him, and he was so happy afterwards knowing what he had achieved. Daniel also did amazing with CPR. His timing was perfect and he even went back for a second round, despite being exhausted after the first. I really enjoyed joining Daniel at the training.”
Course trainer Nicola from Capital Care was equally impressed by Daniel’s participation and positive attitude:
“It’s worth noting how absolutely incredible Daniel was – he made everyone’s day! He was so enthusiastic and really pushed himself to take part, even when sections put him outside his comfort zone. He offered to step in as my casualty for a demonstration and allowed me to show the group a front-facing recovery position.
He was so proud of himself afterwards, and rightly so, recognising how far he had come throughout the day. His positivity was infectious! He deserves a huge congratulations.”
