Event Information

The next film to be screened at Access Film Club is Life, Animated. At three years old, a chatty, energetic boy named Owen Suskind stopped speaking. He became locked in a world with no apparent way out. Four years later, the only stimuli that engaged Owen were Disney films. Life, Animated tells the remarkable story of how Owen found a pathway to language, empathy and a structure for making sense of the world through treasured Disney characters and the power of film. Owen rises to meet the challenges of adulthood in this moving testament to the many ways in which stories can help us become make sense of life's complexities.

After the screening Jenny Paterson, director of The National Autistic Society for Scotland and member of the Governance Group for the Scottish Strategy for Autism is delighted to share her vision for Scotland to become an autism-friendly nation and she will talk about how she is working to make this happen.
