We work in partnership with the charity Nordoff-Robbins to provide music therapy at New Struan School. In music therapy sessions, the pupil is invited to experiment with sounds and to make their own music. Music therapy aims to address shared educational targets for each pupil, to complement the curriculum and support each child’s learning and growth.

Our Speech and Language Therapists ensure that all young people, whatever their level of communication, are able to be included, confident learners in the community. Alison and Mary work with us to: create a positive and responsive communication environment; equip staff and families with knowledge, expertise and confidence; develop the communication skills of learners; and act as a source of advice to inform whole school policies and guidance.

NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (children and young people). Leon has worked in the field of Health and Social Care since 2009 and has experience in low arousal approaches. He previously worked for Cornerstone and the National Autistic Society.

Our clinical psychology service within New Struan offers support to our pupils and their families. It looks not only at the child in isolation but rather in the context of relationships and patterns that exist within the service. As well as working closely with pupils and their families, Michael also offers support to staff working within the school.

Chair of the Parent Council

The Chair of the Parent Council is responsible for managing our school’s Parent Council. The aim of the council is to ensure that, on behalf of their children, parents can have a better understanding on many aspects of school policy and have a voice to shape this in partnership with school staff, including on matters relating to the education and welfare of pupils.
