Scottish Autism staff member runs 40 miles to raise awareness of autism

Lesley Reynolds, a Scottish Autism staff member based in Fife, took on an epic 40 mile run during Autism Awareness Month to raise awareness and funds for autism.

Lesley started her journey from her home in Crossford, Fife, at 4.00am on Saturday 10 April, running past the Scottish Autism area office in Dunfermline and the homes of some of the autistic individuals she supports, finally reaching the Head Office based at Alloa Business Park at 12.30pm.

Lesley said; “I am delighted to be running after a year of injury in 2020. With races unlikely to be resuming quickly, I wanted to set a personal challenge to celebrate my return to running fitness whilst fundraising for a charity that is both close to home and heart.”

“We can’t thank Lesley enough for taking on this amazing challenge for Scottish Autism. This was a fantastic way to involve the autistic individuals she supports and demonstrates her commitment to our mission of enabling autistic individuals to lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives.” said Karen Wilson, Income Generation Lead at Scottish Autism.

Lesley has raised over £1,000 so far which will help to fund vital services like Scottish Autism’s Advice Line where enquiries have trebled since the COVID-19 pandemic.
