Sheppard Robson and Macroberts LLP announce new Wellbeing series event: Designing Spaces for Mind and Body

Leading architectural practice, Sheppard Robson, in conjunction with leading Scottish law firm, MacRoberts LLP, has announced the third event in its 'Wellbeing' series: 'Designing Spaces for Mind and Body'.

Following on from previous events that have focused on physical wellbeing in workplaces and further education spaces, this panel discussion will look at how spaces can be designed to ensure full inclusivity for people with mental health and neurodiverse conditions.

Announced for Thursday 24 January, this Glasgow breakfast panel discussion will be chaired by Helen Berresford, partner at Sheppard Robson and head of its interior design group, ID:SR. Speakers will be from FORE Partnership; Glasgow Life, Scottish Autism and MacRoberts LLP.

This curated conversation and Q&A will cover the challenges faced in the workplace; measures that can be taken to ensure inclusivity; lessons learned from the public sector; how the property community can react to these challenges; and the ramifications of not ensuring inclusivity.

Adam McGhee, Partner at Sheppard Robson, said: "As a sector we have looked extensively at physical wellbeing within our buildings; it is now, correctly, a 'given' that work and education spaces meet stringent standards to ensure they are fully accessible to people with mobility challenges.

"However, we must now start to really ensure that these spaces are equally accessible to the significant portion of the population with neurodiverse and mental health conditions. This is something that the public sector has taken great strides in recent years and there are lessons for the private sector to learn,

"This discussion will look in detail at what these challenges are and how we can begin to implement solutions, something that we see as being a real priority in coming years."

This free panel event will take place on Thursday 24 January at 8am, at MacRoberts' offices, Capella, 60 York Street, Glasgow. Breakfast will be served.
