Another Week Flies By!

This week, parents of individuals in Scottish Autism services and also parents who have taken part in Right Click (Scottish Autism’s online support programme) came to New Struan School for a parent conference. As well as hearing speakers from across our organisation present on topics such as stress reduction and improving communication, parents enjoyed a drama performance by individuals from Scottish Autism's services in Fife. It was a fantastic day and thank you to all those who came along!

Pupils have also had a busy week learning about the Commonwealth Games and enjoyed colouring in flags, marking different countries on the map and playing some Commonwealth sports.  It was also Scott’s birthday this week and along with Ben and Rae, the boys had a brilliant day out at the National Museum of Flight.  Rae particularly impressed staff with his aviation knowledge.

For a change the last few assemblies have been delivered by Susanne Currie, our Principal Teacher. She’s doing a great job and she has introduced a new song ‘Fred the Moose’ which has had us all singing and dancing.

Over the last few weeks many pupils have received awards in recognition of their achievements both within and outwith the school. Some of these are listed below:

  • Jason for being a confident individual when he went swimming
  • Patrick for feeding himself Sticky Toffee Pudding
  • Euan for being a successful learner when he participated well in PE
  • Rae for having a great discussion with staff at the National Museum of Flight
  • Ben and Scott for visiting the National Museum of Flight
  • And also staff member Malcolm for his excellent organisation and preparation for the day out

Well done everyone!
