Christmas Fayre and ’50 Things’ Awards Ceremony

We have had a very special and busy week at New Struan School as we held our Christmas Fayre on Wednesday and Thursday. There were lots of stalls at the fayre, including wonderful decorations created by our pupils, as well as beautifully made chocolate houses!

Barra Class had made some reindeer dust and hot chocolate, as well as some beautiful handmade decorations. Kyran and Jay created some wonderful and humorous handmade cards, as well as some interesting ‘Grinch Juice’! There were some more wonderful decorations available created by Jamie in Jura class. Jason also sold his album at his own stall at the Fayre, and there were plenty chocolate houses and fondant penguins made by our pupils in Food Tech.

We were fortunate to be joined again by the Focus School Choir sang some festive songs for us, and getting everyone singing along!

Also this week we had a very special assembly, where some of our pupils received their ’50 Things’ awards.

Firstly we looked at some things that our pupils have achieved as part of their ’50 Things’. In Barra class, Ross has been learning some new skills, including wrapping presents and playing piano. David has gotten in to the festive spirit, with some lovely Christmas antlers, and has been enjoying time on the trampoline at Rebound Therapy.

In Islay, Sam has been practising using strategies that help him to feel calm. He has become great friends with Freddie the rabbit, learning how to hold him in the proper way. Also in Islay, Jason has had a very busy year, taking on extra responsibility as part of his role in Scottish Autism’s film group, Iceberg Productions.

Kyran in Jura has done an excellent job in mastering a physical skill through is Tae Kwon Do class out with the school. Also in Jura, Jay has been taking part in assemblies and Jenny has enjoyed spending time in the Phyzzpod.

We then watch a Merry Christmas animation created by Jamie, which was followed by some music created by Jack.

In Tiree class, April has been taking part in the Daily Mile, reaching the blue sign to mark the mile! Alexander has been using the bike around the school grounds, and George has been feeding some chickens at the farm. Also in Tiree, Liam has been enjoying making paper mache.
