Enjoying great music

We started our assembly this week by looking at the adventures of Marley over the weekend. We looked at a picture of him looking out for cats and trying to catch up with the bikes on a walk along the cycle path. Freddie the rabbit also has fun at Cheryl’s house this weekend- he chewed through some family artwork!

We then discussed our Right of the Month, which is:

‘You have the right to be heard and listened to.’

On Wednesday we are going to have a Pupil Voice group where pupils can talk about their school and provide their feedback. We are going to talk about how this group got on at next week’s assembly.

To start ‘Look, Listen’ this week, Jamie talked to us about the dance group he is starting tomorrow at one o’clock. The group is for pupils and staff and the first song they are going to learn to dance to is ‘Rise’ by Jack + Jack.

This was followed by the news as presented by Jack and Jason who announced that they got into college to learn about music and sound engineering. They will be away for most of the day on Friday to go to college. Our second news story this week was about Chris Evans leaving his Radio 2 show after eight years. He announced his departure on the show, which regularly attracts more than 9m listeners- more than any other show in the UK. Our next news story was about a driveable car that has been made entirely out of Lego. The luxury car brand Bugatti has teamed up with Lego to make the car, which is made up of a million pieces and can drive up to 20 kilometres per hour.

We then heard Jack’s Joke of the Week:

‘Teacher asks the student: “Why are you so late?!”

Student: “Well I was crossing the road and suddenly it says School ahead, go slowly!”’

Jason then presented his Asendo hour. His album ‘Scottish by Nature Part 1’ is now available to purchase from him for £3.99.

After the news everyone got up to sign along to the song ‘Shotgun’ by George Ezra. This was followed by a wonderful duet from Danny and Jack, singing the song ‘I Wanna Stay The Same’ by The Make Believes.

Our Focus of the Week is physical activity which we are going to try to demonstrate in a number of ways including completing our daily mile and taking part in Jamie’s dance class. Class point will be awarded to pupils who demonstrate this.

Our Finer Diners this week are going to focus also on their skill of the month, which is collecting their cutlery.

The Sign of the Week this week is ‘fun’ which we all practiced.

We also had some Star Awards to give out:

  • Our Class of the Week is Barra who earned a whopping 280 class points!
  • Well done to Danny, Jack, Arran, Denun and Jamie for their excellent team work this week playing football.
  • Our Star Baker this week is Ben for making delicious cheese and bacon scones and demonstrating his grating skills.

To finish assembly this week we all danced along to the ‘Baby Shark’ song as chosen by Barra class.
