Exciting Awards

At the beginning of our first assembly after our school break, Deborah told us about how much Marley enjoyed playing in the sun over the weekend, and she especially enjoyed the new bone that she got from the butcher!

Our Right of the Week has now changed to Right of the Month, which we will focus on for the whole month. For this month it is:

‘You have the right to give your opinion’

To start ‘Look, Listen’ this week Lucy told us about Kids Day Out in Stirling. The whole school will be attending this on the 13th of June. Jason told us that at the event last year, there was a bouncy castle, food and lots of fun and games!

Then it was over to the Newsdesk, presented this week by Jack and Jason.  Jason told us about the new track he has created under the name ‘Asendo’. The track is titled ‘Chilling at the Beach Party’, which is a tropical track with some hip hop influences.  You can hear Jason latest song on Soundcloud via the following link: https://soundcloud.com/jason-davidson-skyfall/beach-party-asendo

Jason also told us that he will be working on a new track with Horse, who is an artist who has toured with Tina Turner. She will be coming to our assembly next week and will perform for us.

Jack then begun his section of the news today by paying tribute to those who passed away last week. He first mentioned the tragic deaths of celebrities Avicii, Dale Winton and Verne Troyer. He then spoke about the loss of Danny, who was a New Struan bus driver who lost his battle with cancer a few days ago.

Breaking News also this morning as the Duchess of Cambridge has gone into labour with her third child. Jack also announced that today is St. Georges Day, who is the patron saint of England.

Jack’s Tweet of the Week is:

‘I spend 80% of my driving time thinking up creative reasons I was speeding just in case I have to explain myself’

Our news section this week ended with Jack singing us ‘Wake Me Up’ by Avicii as a tribute to the late DJ. This song was chosen as it was voted number one in a poll that Jack conducted with our pupils last week.

Following this, everyone got up to dance and sing along to our song this week, which was ‘Reach’ by S Club 7.

Our Sign of the Week this week is ‘music’ or ‘sing’, which everyone practised.

Our Focus this week is ‘responsible’. We will be displaying this during the week by looking after our school and equipment. Class point will be awarded to pupils showing that they are being responsible.

As it is our first assembly back we had just one star award to give out, which was our Rights Respecting Award. This went to Danny for successfully building friendships with his peers.

We did however have a special arrival this morning. In the post we received a certificate for Ben from Dynamic Youth Scotland. He received a 2 star award for contributing to his challenge of ‘Making a Story’. He spent 17hrs on the project and helped his peers learn a new skill as part of the process.

Our assembly this week ended with the song ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’ followed by a song shown by Danny on construction vehicles.
