Healthy Living Award
New Struan School recently received the prestigious national ‘Healthy Living Award’ for their catering.
The award is given to caterers who meet a very specific set of criteria relating to food nutrition and the promotion of healthy options. As part of the improvements the school has made in going for this award, the school catering team installed a salad bar and gradually introduced healthier changes to the menu.
Lorraine Dalgleish, Head Cook at the school said: “I felt that going for the award would give us a goal to strive for and we could get the children involved. When the healthy living assessor came to visit, all our hard work had paid off.”
Lorraine Dalgleish received the award on behalf of the school from broadcaster and journalist Stephen Jardine.
