Moment of Fame

What a week it has been at our school! As you will most likely be aware we have been working with musicians Horse, Ambassador for Nordoff Robbins, and Andy from the Func Factory. We were super excited when the new BBC Scotland channel came in to capture the fantastic work that has been taking place. Journalist Fiona Stalker, along with a film crew with cameras aplenty, visited our school last week and pupils Jason and Jack were in the spotlight.

Showcasing the talent, strength and confidence of Jack and Jason, the film piece was aired as part of The Nine, a daily news feature on the channel. There were some lovely comments on social media following the show:

Total pleasure, just shows how life changing music can be.

So proud of my nephew Jason, huge difference in him. The support from the school and his music therapy has been amazing.

Watch and be amazed by these stunning young men and their joyful response to Horse and Andy.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Horse, Andy, Janet MacLachlan, Nordoff Robbins, Fiona Stalker the crew at The Nine, Jack, Jason and all our other pupils.

In other news, mascot Marley enjoyed an adventurous weekend in the Bathgate hills! She wasn’t too tired out though and still managed to join in with some dancing in this week’s assembly.

This week pupils are focusing on World Book Day and have been tasked with reading a book in a weird and wonderful place – we look forward to seeing what everyone gets up to. Barra class have taken on the recycling responsibilities for the week ahead and Jura won this week’s class of the week Kyran collected the certificate on behalf of the class, well done Jura!

Congratulations also to Jack who won this week’s star baker award for completing his practical assessment for his National 3 Practical Cookery Unit – well done Jack and thank you for your beautiful cover of Pink’s song ‘A Million Dreams’.
