New Struan Kitchen Team 'Highly Commended' at Scottish School Food Awards


The kitchen team at Alloa's New Struan School are celebrating after being 'highly commended' in the Food Service Team Of The Year category at the Scottish School Food Awards on Thursday 27th October.

The awards ceremony was hosted at Merchiston Castle School, Edinburgh, and saw awards handed out to schools across Scotland in a variety of categories. 
While the New Struan kitchen team of Lorraine Dalgleish and Sanita Lieciniece did not take away the ultimate prize, which went to Barrhead Academy, they were recognised through the 'highly commended' accolade.

Commenting after the event, New Struan School Head Teacher, Lee-Anne McAulay said:

"We are incredibly proud of our team at New Struan, who do fantastic work every single day to support our pupils with their dietary and sensory needs. Lorraine and Sanita always go the extra mile for our children, and we are delighted that their work has been acknowledged in this way.

Head Cook at New Struan School, Lorraine Dalgleish commented:

"Just to be nominated for this award was an honour in itself. To then be recognised as highly commended was outstanding. We love working with the children at New Struan, and we are delighted that work has been acknowledged by the awards judging panel."

Kitchen assistant, Sanita Lieciniece added:

"To be nominated was fantastic, and we are honoured by the recognition. The highest honour of all is that we get to work with the children of New Struan School every day and that our work makes a difference for them."
