One Good Turn

Pupils and staff at New Struan School would like to say a huge thank you to all our friends and family who came along to our recent fun day. Celebrating ten years in our purpose built school was so much fun and we’re glad you shared this with us.  We raised £207.87 which will go towards curriculum experiences for all pupils this half term.

As the saying goes, ‘one good turn deserves another’ and over the last month pupils have been thinking about how they can help and support others.

On cancer awareness week pupils used a photo booth to help raise awareness of the condition. After doing some research, they wrote down key facts about cancer and then had their photo taken with their message.

Peter tells us that cancer is a disease.

Erin tells us that cancer affects both males and females

Last week we dressed up in our onesie to raise money for a friend of a staff member. Sean’s house needs to be modified following an accident where he was left paralysed from the chest down. Wearing our onesie caused much hilarity and we hope that our donations will help Sean.

In other news, we’ve also been learning new songs in assembly! Complete with actions, the new songs mean that everyone can join in and follow the actions on the screen. Even more pupils have been getting up to dance which is great!

Amidst all the fun, there has been lots of great work going on. There are even a few budding poets among us!  Ben received a star award for adding a simile to his poem and both Jason and Alfie received star awards and were really brave and read out their poems.
