Parliamentary Debate on Future Support for Autistic People and People with a Learning Disability

In support of Our Voice Our Rights campaign, on Wednesday 3rd March at 6pm an important debate was held at the Scottish Parliament.

As we approach the Scottish Parliamentary Elections in May 2021, together with ENABLE Scotland and National Autistic Society Scotland, we’re calling on all the major political parties in Scotland to commit to a Commissioner for autistic people and people with a learning disability to ensure real change.

Together with partners, we compiled a briefing to support the Members Business debate tabled by Alexander Burnett MSP. The briefing notes the calls for a commissioner to protect and uphold the human rights of autistic people, people with a learning disability and families. It includes information about autism and learning disability, key facts and figures together with details of our proposed Commissioner.
