Putting the Fun into Fundraising

Pupils and staff have returned, well-rested and rejuvenated following a week long break! Just before we headed off on our break, we enjoyed our school family fun day which was a roaring success, with over 240 people attending. Staff, pupils, friends, family and members of the community all came together to enjoy a wide array of activities. There were traditional games such as 'Beat the Goalie' and 'Throw the Wet Sponge' as well as more challenging and exhilarating activities including a Climbing Wall.

Thank you to all those who attended our fun day, it raised over £1600 for our annual school trip to Lendrick Muir!  A group of our dedicated staff team (pictured above) have also been fundraising in their week off, and they climbed the highest mountain in Scotland, Ben Nevis, raising over £700!

In this week’s assembly, Jack had his longest news report – so much has happened in the last week. Tiree class enjoyed working with Recyke-a-bike, Kyran from Jura class got an Xbox One S, and Jason and Jack from Islay have passed their college courses which means they will be in school on Fridays. Class Teacher, Rachel also enjoyed a day as a zookeeper at Blairdrummond Safari Park and it was Mariread’s birthday!

Jack also put on a fantastic performance of Britney Spear’s ‘Stronger’ where he not only sang but choreographed dance moves to go along with this popular hit song.

Our focus for this week is on being responsible in the gardening club, and on planting sunflower seeds and nurturing them so that they grow. Class of the week went to Barra and there were lots of star awards given out including:

  • Star Baker Award to Alfie who showed his mum how to make doughnuts!
  • Employee of the Month went to David
  • Positive Recognition Certificate was awarded to Alexander for a brilliant effort in participating in the Recyke a Bike session

We are now gearing up towards our annual school trip to Lendrick Muir in three weeks’ time – we can’t wait!
