Rested after our week off

After a relaxing week off, our pupils feel rested and ready to learn. Everyone enjoyed the holiday, and Danny told us about how he spent his week helping his Dad at work on the bin lorry which he was very excited about. Deborah also told us that Marley the dog enjoyed the holiday too, and they went on lots of walked where Marley got very dirty after jumping in swamps!

Our Right of the Week this week is:

‘You have the right to choose your own friends and join or set up your own group’

This right is reflected in the new outdoor learning tables that have been set up for each class. These new table will be perfect to use as the weather improves, and they even have holes for umbrellas.

Lucy began ‘Look, Listen’ this week by giving us a sneak preview of a video that is being made about the pupils and the school. Some of the pupils have seen Lindsay and Anne filming around the school.

We then had our news update from Jack from Birch class. He started by telling us about the recent chicken shortage at KFC due a change in supplier.  As a result they have had to close some restaurants however they are working hard to get them back up and running again. Jack then told us about a pyramid of dolls that have been constructed in Japan to mark Japan’s annual festival of daughters. The pyramid has roughly 1800 dolls, which were donated by people from all over the country. Our next news story was about a picture shared on Twitter of an ice cream machine at McDonalds by an ex-employee. It caused quite a stir as the machine was very mouldy. Aiden told us that this was because these machines don’t get cleaned enough.

Our news segment this week ended with a tweet of the week shared by Jack:

‘Of course I can cook. Which cereal would you like?’

News was followed by our signing song, and then Jack sang for us ‘The Greatest’ by Sia. Everyone was very impressed as he also did the rap which was word perfect!

Our Focus is to ensure that we are walking in the right places e.g. on the street and that we run only in the gym or at the track. ‘Walk’ is also our Sign of the Week.

Our Star Awards for this week:

  • Class of the Week is Willow Class for having clear workstation environments
  • Our Rights Respecting Award this week goes to David for contributing to the documentary film trailer

Our surprise song at the end of assembly this week was chosen by Pine class. The song was ‘Roar’ by Katy Perry as this song it April and Erin’s favourite.
