Dougan Visits the Turner Prize
During March, Clare Hume of Raincoats and Slippers Theatre Company has been working closely with all the staff and pupils at New Struan School to put together an interactive, multi-sensory piece of theatre, which was performed last month to family and friends. The show follows a man called Dougan who, through his dreams, explores the 2015 Turner Prize Exhibition, connecting the audience with the themes of warmth, security and support.
Through putting on this performance, our pupils were able to share a safe and expressive space where their level of engagement was built upon each day. Their imagination, ideas and expressions contributed to the organic development of the piece. On the day of the performance, all of the young people engaged with the piece, and with each other, to create an atmosphere that encouraged audience participation. The pupils did a wonderful job and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the performance.
Well done everyone!
