Energy

Learning for this term is focused on energy, the different forms it comes in and how it can be created.

Willow class started off on the topic with a fun interactive presentation on the power of wind. Pupils were given flags and the chance to come up and stand in front of a fan to see how the wind causes the flag to move. Pupils then got to create bubbles – bubbles are made from soap and water and in dry air, water evaporates, it is soaked up by the dry air around the bubble. The skin of the bubble gets thinner and thinner until it finally pops!

We all got together to create a stronger gust of wind by holding a giant tent and moving it up and down.

Holly class then presented on renewable energy. During the week they looked at how wind moves wind mills, wind turbines and boats. They handed out little hand made wind wheels to give other pupils to chance to have a go.

Willow class have also been making mini volcano’s using materials around the school. By adding juice to bicarbonate of soda, Ewan wowed everyone with his mini volcano.

We’ve learnt so much since the term started back and we are looking forward to finding out more about energy.
