Sporting Achievements

Keeping fit is so important and pupils have been working hard at doing just that. Thanks to our brilliant playground, we’ve been making the most of all the different activities we can do outdoors.

George did particularly well completing three laps on the track. Along with his classmates, he learned to complete track independently and to keep count of the number of laps he’d done by putting a peg into a basket at the finish line. George and his classmates did laps three times a day: when they arrived at school, at breaktime and mid afternoon.

Anders has also been really active and visited Alloa Leisure Bowl, enjoying being in the pool and trying out the slide –well done Anders.

Anders received a Star Award for being so confident.

This week we also played Boccia. Boccia is a fun game that requires a lot of precision. The aim is to get soft balls into plastic hoops.  We’re looking forward to playing more of it!

Whole school trips are a great way for pupils to learn, have new experiences and bond with classmates. Recently we had a whole school trip to a local church where we learned lots about Christianity. Pupils were so inspired by the beautiful stained glass windows that they had a go at making some themselves.

George liked the effect of looking through coloured paper

This week, fitting in with our sporting theme, we had a whole school trip to Alloa Athletic Football grounds.  It was a fantastic day out and everyone did really well adapting to the change in normal routine and accessing different parts of the ground. We’re excited to welcome some of those we met back to our assembly next week!

Finally we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported our playground appeal  - we raised over £145,000!

We’re delighted with all the new equipment, it gives pupils the opportunity to reinforce skills learnt in the classroom whilst keeping fit at the same time. The final item to be installed is the Multi Use Games Area next summer. In particular thank you to the fundraising team at Scottish Autism – we couldn’t have done it without your help!
