From all Corners of the Globe
Pupils have been learning about the traditions and cultures of other countries in the last few weeks. Last Friday, pine class presented what they have been learning and brought some dancing to assembly. Demonstrating the Virginia Reel, Karen and Anne Marie showed the rest of the school how it’s done.
This week pupils took part in a World Market, inviting friends and family to come in and see what they’ve been doing. Each class chose a country they were interested in and had a connection with. For some this connection was that a class member came from the country and for others it was related to the fact that someone is going on holiday there.
There was a wide array of goodies on offer with foods from the different countries, tea and craft items related to particular traditions.
Our Fundraiser Lynne bought a hand painted ‘Day of the Dead’ mask from Alfie who, in keeping with the Mexican theme, wore a sombrero for the occasion. The Day of the Dead is a festival recognised in Mexico where people pray and celebrate the lives of those they have lost.
Adam did a great job manning the Scotland themed stall where there was tablet, heather and some lovely Scottie dog cards for sale.
There were lots of other stands with items from Romania, Spain, Turkey and France! Pupils put a lot of effort into the event which was a great success! Well done everyone!
