Exploring Creative Talents

It’s the last day of term and pupils have been working hard over the last few weeks and are looking forward to a well deserved break!

For almost a year now, a weekly Art Club has been running in the school. The club gives pupils the chance to explore their artistic skills and express themselves. Pupils are encouraged to keep their artwork and build up a portfolio they can look back at.

The club is a time for pupils to relax and unwind but it also gives them the opportunity to spend time with their peers. They can choose to work quietly on their own or, if they feel like it, they can strike up a conversation with fellow pupils. The materials for drawing are shared in basket which means that the pupils also learn about sharing with others.

Jason was inspired by Netflix in a recent session and Jack concentrated really hard on making replicas of film certificate logos, well done boys!

At other times they may need a little prompt from Class Teacher Kirstie. She has lots of suggestions to inspire the pupils!

Last week we all enjoyed a Scottish Culture Night marking Rabbie Burns Day! We welcomed families to come in and see what pupils have been working on: from making bagpipes to learning about the Highland clearances, we’ve been embracing all things Scottish!

Lots of pupils have received certificates in recognition of their achievements these last few weeks. Jack has been doing particularly well in performing arts and he completed his SQA unit in the subject. This involved choosing an instrument, playing it and then describing what he liked about it –well done Jack!
