New theme for a new term

The buzz is back at New Struan as the pupils all return following the October break.

With a new theme for the term looking at ‘Enterprise’, the pupils are already gearing up for the Christmas Market Day in December. For this, pupils will be creating arts and crafts and perhaps even some home baking to share with friends and family – we’ll keep you posted on the date!

During the break, Head Teacher Jasmine was also kept busy with a trip to Nanjing in China to an International Autism Conference.  As well as presenting to delegates, she visited a local Child Development Centre to see how they support individuals with autism there. Why not read Jasmine’s blog to hear more about the trip.

For the first Assembly of the new term, the pupils learned about the Commonwealth Games coming to Glasgow. Jasmine gave an overview of the history of the Games and talked about how there is many Olympic torches but only one Commonwealth Games baton. The organisers are looking for nominations for special people who could carry the historic baton.  To be nominated people have to be over 12 y/o, responsible citizens, don’t mind crowds and don’t mind having their photo taken. If pupils think they would like to do this or if they want to nominate someone else, they should tell their class teacher and Jasmine will decide who should represent the school.

There were also lots of Star Awards given out this week too; here are some of the reasons why:

Sean McGinlay – worked very well with Karen

Euan Reilly – tried Scampi for lunch

Ross Ferrier – sang songs for his class

Luke Farquahr – demonstrated great concentration when completing his work basket on Wednesday

Elder Staff Team – for keeping Jane right and being very helpful

Well done everyone!
