Cornhill Castle supports Scottish Autism
Cornhill Castle has launched their charity initiative in support of Scottish Autism, with the team behind the Castle will be looking for ways to fundraise, raise awareness of autism and show support for the charity.
We will also be providing staff training to the team which has an emphasis on increasing autism awareness and understanding. Cornhill Castle will also be looking to engage with the team at Café Kudos, our vocational service in Carluke. The café was set up over 10 years ago and provides autistic adults with meaningful training opportunities and the chance to develop work skills in a safe environment. The café has become an established part of the local community.
Neil Dougherty, General Manager at Cornhill Castle, said: “The team at Cornhill are delighted to show support for Scottish Autism, where funds raised will go straight into our local communities and will make a difference. However, while fundraising is important, we’ll also be looking at ways to work together which involves engaging in work experience and training opportunities.
Fran Miele, Corporate Fundraiser, Scottish Autism, said: “We are delighted to form this partnership with Cornhill Castle. This is our 50th anniversary year and is a fantastic time to work in partnership with the Group to raise awareness of autism and raise funds to further support opportunities in the local community for autistic adults, such as Café Kudos in Carluke.
“This new partnership, along with autism awareness training for staff, is a really positive development in raising awareness and understanding of autism and enhancing the lives of autistic people across Scotland.”
Heading into the festive season, Cornhill Castle will have some support from Scottish Autism at their Christmas Market, which takes place on Saturday 2nd December.
We will have a stall at the event where we will be selling homemade gifts crafted from the talented autistic individuals in Art Opportunities, our day and vocational service in Alloa, and beautiful Christmas Wreaths, along with home baking to raise funds We may even bring along the odd elf or two to help out.
The Cornhill Castle Christmas Market is on Saturday 2nd December from 12noon – 4pm.
