Scottish Autism Raises Record Sum
We were delighted to celebrate a significant fundraising boost after a record sum was raised at our annual golf day, organised in partnership with corporate partners SG Pro Cleaning.
The day saw twenty-five teams take part in a Texas Scramble round Craigielaw Golf Course in East Lothian, with the team from Ochil Joiners emerging as the top performers. The event was once again hosted by Scottish rugby legend, Scott Hastings, who joined in with the golf as well as performing compere duties to help drive up the totals being donated.
Across the golf, raffle and silent auction the participants generously donated a grand total of £16,126.59, which smashes the previous year's record total by £1,500. The funds raised will go towards supporting Scottish Autism's Lothian services to deliver necessary upgrades to the facilities in order to benefit the individuals supported by the charity.
Commenting on the sums raised, our Chief Executive, Dorry McLaughlin, said:
"We are delighted with the money that has been raised via our annual golf day. We are extremely grateful to SG Pro Cleaning for their continued partnership with us, and to Scott Hastings who always does such a phenomenal job building an atmosphere and convincing people to part with their money to support our cause.
"The funds raised will be hugely beneficial to our Lothian services, and will help to support the financing of an upgrade to the facilities which will enable the autistic people we support to get the best out of the time that they spend with us."
Douglas Smith, Managing Director of SG Pro Cleaning, commented:
"The annual golf day is always a really fun day for everyone who participates and this year was no exception. We got really lucky with the weather as the torrential rain cleared just as we were taking to the course and we had glorious sunshine the whole day, albeit with high winds which gave plenty guys an excuse for wayward shooting!
"We are delighted to have raised a record sum for Scottish Autism, who we continue to enjoy a strong relationship with. It was great to hear on the day how the money raised will go towards supporting the upgrade of their Lothian services and will bring real benefits to the people who access the service.
"We're already looking forward to next year and thinking about how we can go even further and raise yet more money for this worthy cause."
