Walk for Autism Events
Sold out in 2018, our popular Walk for Autism events are back. Sign up today!
The Walk for Autism 5k event series was originally started by a parent of an autistic individual who is supported by Scottish Autism. The family and pooch friendly event has grown over the years and our gentle walks are specifically created to be accessible and fun, regardless of age and ability.
Around 1 in 100 people in Scotland are autistic which can impact on an individual's social communication, interaction, imagination and flexible thinking. It affects their ability to communicate, interact and process information. Subsequently social isolation is faced by autistic people, and their families, every day.
Walk for Autism is an opportunity to meet other people who understand what it's like to have a child or a family member with autism, make new friends in a relaxed autism-friendly environment, and of course enjoy a beautiful walk in our gorgeous Scottish landscape! Join in with our brand new over-sized lawn games or just relax on a bean bag and enjoy the lovely weather.
Our mascot Wallace the Bear will be handing out medals and sweeties to all walkers at the finish line. As Wallace loves to dance he was taught how to do 'the floss' last year - hopefully someone will teach him 'the triangle' this year?

This year, we are delighted to launch our new Wallace Wanders pack - a toolkit for teachers to create a fun way of engaging pupils in a fundraising walk for Scottish Autism.
The pack includes an introduction to Scottish Autism and offers suggestions on ways to get the whole school involved in walking for autism. By taking on a Wallace Wanders event, this will promote exercise amongst pupils and gives the opportunity to introduce relevant discussions in the classroom.
Not only this but it will encourage children to participate in fundraising for a great cause, while making it an enjoyable and memorable experience for all involved.
If you would like to be sent a free information pack, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01259 720044.
What’s next? - Once your school has registered to take part in Wallace Wanders, we will send you a selection of goodies including stickers and a Wallace badge, along with some downloadable resources to make your fundraising journey as effortless as possible!
