Elvis Presley Fundraising Night Helps to Raise £2,463

Organisers of last Friday night's Elvin Presley tribute event have thanked everyone who bought tickets and took part in the raffle after a total of £2,463.76 was raised for Scottish Autism, along with other fundraising efforts.

The event was held at Stirling Rugby Club by teachers from the autism charity's New Struan School who were fundraising for a new Multi Medium Space for pupils, which will allow them to learn a variety of life skills, including art, crafts and woodwork.

Tribute act Johnny Lee Memphis put on a captivating performance as The King of Rock 'n' Roll and invited New Struan pupil Alfie Munro onto the stage to steal the show singing 'The Gambler', the last song of the evening. There was then a raffle before signed rugby and football memorabilia were auctioned off.

Organiser Mhairi McCabe, who is also a Classroom Assistant at New Struan, said:

"I would like to thank everyone who came along to help us to raise so much for New Struan School.
"Thank you to staff members who helped on the night, to everyone who donated raffle prizes, and to my brother Johnny for his exceptional performance combining his musical and comic talent to perfection."

Karen Wilson, Income Generation Lead for Scottish Autism, said:

"Congratulations to Mhairi and the organisers of the night for all their time and efforts putting this excellent event on and raising almost two and a half thousands pounds towards a new interactive space for pupils at New Struan.
"Given all the external factors at the minute including the cost of living crisis, the generosity of those who attended is heartwarming and it is much appreciated by everyone at Scottish Autism."
