Farewell to Danny

This week our usual assembly happened on a Friday as part of a very special day – Danny’s last day at New Struan. Danny has been here for several years and although we are really sad to say goodbye, we are also excited for Danny’s future beyond our school.

As part of Show and Tell, Danny stood up to tell everyone about his new combine harvester which he purchased at the National Museum of Rural Life with Clare. Danny loved the museum and he even got to have a ride on ‘Dougal the Shoogal’ tractor. We then watched a video of staff saying goodbye to Danny along with a slideshow of his time at the school. Of course the song that we listened to in this week’s assembly couldn’t be anything other than the Thunderbirds Soundtrack!

There was some other exciting news in assembly. We were delighted to hear the tracks that Jack and Jason had developed with the support of singer, Horse. Titled ‘Dark Colours’, Jack’s track is a moving piece with hints of pop and opera. Jason’s latest Asendo track  is very upbeat with a contemporary RnB feel.  It will be part of Jason’s upcoming album called ‘Scottish by Nature’ due to be released this Autumn. Both songs are excellent compositions and you can listen to them here:

Celebrating Danny’s graduation, we also listened and danced to one of April’s favourite songs, ‘What a Wonderful World’.

Our sign this week was for the sun – check out the team practising!

Class of the week this time round was Willow Class and every pupil received a star award for coming along to Lendrick Muir – fantastic work everyone!

The celebrations didn’t stop there for Danny. Assembly was followed by our Daily Mile walk and a buffet for all.

We want to say thank you to Danny for being a great pupil and classmate, and wish him all the best for his future.
