Participants needed for Sexuality, Autism and Young People Study

Bangor University, in collaboration with the University of Warwick and the University of Glasgow, are starting a new research project looking at relationships and sexuality in young people with High Functioning Autism or Asperger's syndrome (HFA/AS).

They want to find out about:

  • Your experiences of being a parent of a young person with HFA/AS (your ‘child’).
  • Your attitudes and beliefs about your child’s sexuality
  • Sources of help and support you have received when discussing these issues with your child.
  • Hopes and expectations about your child’s future.

What does taking part involve?

The researcher, Ceri Christian-Jones, will arrange to meet with you at your home or somewhere else that is convenient for you. If it suits you better, then she could arrange to speak to you over the telephone. We will ask everyone to complete an interview that may last anything up to 45 minutes to 1 hour – depending on how much you have to say on the topic. With your agreement we would like to record the interviews. This would mean that we won’t have to write anything down and this will allow us to talk more freely.
