Pupils at New Struan School receive special visit from Kenyan Maasai Warriors

Throughout the first month of term, the pupils have been preparing for the visit and learning all about the culture and traditions of the Kenyan group through music, art and history lessons. The Warriors put on a fantastic display of song and dance using traditional instruments such as the antelope horn.

Jasmine Miller, Head Teacher at New Struan School said: “We have hosted the Osiligi Warriors for the last three years and it has proved to be a great learning experience. It is fantastic for the pupils to come together as a group to observe and participate in such a captivating performance.”

The Osiligi Warriors are a group of traditional performers from Kenya who regularly visit the UK in an effort to raise funds for their families and for improvement of their village back home. Money raised has allowed them to build a brand new primary school providing an education for children from the rural Maasai villages.
