About the group

Do you enjoy writing and making up stories? If so, this taster session is for you!

Creative Writing has many benefits. It can help increase your vocabulary and explore your emotions and can even reduce your stress levels and build confidence. What’s not to love? All you need is a laptop/phone or a piece of paper and something to write with, and you’re good to go! The question is where to begin. This workshop, led by award-winning writer Angela Jackson, will help you make that all important start by showing you how to engage your imagination and develop your creative writing skills.

If you want to write for your own pleasure and enjoyment, or even if you’re interested in pursuing a more professional path, this taster session will provide you with a solid starting point. In just one hour, you’ll learn some of the basics about how to create interesting and engaging characters and how to set up a story so that people will want to read it. You’ll even have the opportunity to take part in a fun creative writing activity.

In this small group, you’ll be able to connect with others who are interested in writing, in a low pressure and fun environment.

If you enjoy the taster session and we have enough interest, we are hoping to form a creative writing group which will be offered as part of our Click & Connect Programme.

About the host
Angela Jackson is an award-winning writer, a former psychology lecturer, and a creative writing tutor for Open University. Her debut novel, The Emergence of Judy Taylor, won Edinburgh International Book Festival’s First Book Award, was selected as Waterstones’ Scottish Book of the Year, and reached number one in Comic Fiction on Amazon. She completed her second novel, The Darlings, after workshopping two of its key characters in a one woman show format, which enjoyed a sell-out run at Edinburgh Fringe.
