Lizzie Ashworth is a poet and illustrator based in Edinburgh. Her work explores human relationships and issues of identity, family and intimacy. Lizzie is interested in what makes us happy and at home in ourselves, often drawing inspiration from humans’ innate connection to nature and need for freedom. Lizzie has worked as a community outreach, equalities and mental health worker, and currently works with refugee families and minority ethnic communities in South west Edinburgh. "I am interested in understanding people not in terms of their limitations, but in terms of their individuality and talents; what matters to them and who they want to be. Everyone has something valuable to give to society."

Here is her poem 'You' which she wrote after being inspired by an autistic individual and their support worker boarding the bus she was on.
