10 Years of Cafe Kudos!

The cafe opened back in 2005 and has since then become an established part of the local community. It is managed by a small specialist team of staff who enable the individuals we support to develop their skills and grow their confidence in a safe environment.

To celebrate the special anniversary the cafe held an afternoon tea and invited along all their regular customers as well as people from the local community. This was a great opportunity for us to say thank you to everyone who has supported the cafe over the years and also tell new people about what we do. There was a huge cake and plenty of delicious treats and snacks and everyone enjoyed some tea and coffee while chatting among one another.

On the day we also presented all the wonderful individuals we support at the cafe with a trophy for all their hard work and commitment over the years. Helen Taylor was also presented with a special gift as she has been with us at the cafe since it first opened! They were all over the moon and everyone had a really great day celebrating 10 years in business.

Gillian Smith, Service Manager at Cafe Kudos said; “Scottish Autism opened the Cafe 10 years ago and I have been involved in the management ever since. Over the years we have supported many individuals, offering them the opportunity to develop their skills and confidence and watching many of them grow and build their self-esteem which has been a hugely rewarding experience. The cafe has become an important part of the local community and we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us.”

Ewan Dunn, one of the individuals we support, said;’ I started working in Cafe Kudos nine years ago just after it first opened. I really enjoy feeling part of the community. I like socialising with the staff, customers and my peers. I have developed many skills working in the cafe such as money handling, food preparation, shopping, baking and customer service.’

If you are ever in the area you can visit Cafe Kudos at 5 Union Street, Carluke – we would love to have you stop by.
